On Wednesday he told reporters the two sides could reach an agreement, and added, "maybe we blow them up" if they do not. He has also said the war will be over very soon and that Iran will not have a nuclear weapon. On 26 September he rejected an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz for seven days. The war began on 28 February. Reuters spent time aboard the USS George Washington in the strait while the carrier conducted operations against Iranian targets. Britain's prime minister said there are strong indications Iran was involved in a bomb scare at a US-run airbase.
The Wall Street Journal, citing Kpler, said shipments through Hormuz and the bypass routes were just under 80 percent of prewar regional flows last week. Tracker Huax put September crude exports from Saudi Arabia, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, and other major producers at almost 13 million barrels a day, against nearly 19 million in February. Iran has been unable to move its own crude through the strait since the United States restored a maritime blockade in July. Kpler estimates the oil Iran had stored beyond that blockade could run out by mid-October. Saudi Arabia has started sending some crude through the East-West pipeline for loading in the Red Sea, at volumes still below the line's earlier rate.
Argon is in the Fairwind Program, which opened on 3 September with Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber and now includes more than 650 organizations, among them CrowdStrike and Palo Alto Networks. Introductory API pricing is $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with cached input at 95 percent off the input price. After that introductory period the rates go to $4 and $20. The output limit is 1 million tokens, up from 64,000. On DeepSWE v1.1, a long-horizon software-engineering test, Google scored Argon at 77.9 percent, against 74.2 percent for Claude Opus 5.5 and 74.1 percent for GPT-6 Astra on Google's chart. Across 18 disclosed benchmarks Argon led on 12 and tied on one. Chief AI architect Koray Kavukcuoglu said a model at this level needs a phased release. Wider access is planned for paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers. Google had promised a Gemini 3.5 Pro in June and spent the summer on smaller Flash models. Wiz, which Google owns, has used Argon in its Scan for Good program.
Michael Horowitz, the Board's inspector general, released a report of about 120 pages. It said the office found no reasonable grounds for a criminal referral to the attorney general and no administrative misconduct. Construction costs rose from an estimate of $921 million in February 2020 to $2.018 billion by December 2024, and the project is now discussed at about $2.5 billion, with completion pushed from mid-2024 to December 2027. The Board did not obtain a full cost estimate until January 2026 and never set a guaranteed maximum price. Powell asked for the review in July 2025. The Justice Department dropped its related investigation in April. Kevin Warsh became chair in May, and Powell stayed on as a governor. Trump wrote that Powell should be forced to resign, and in a later post said that if Powell stays he should be sued for corruption or incompetence.
Andy Burnham told Labour's conference in Liverpool that Brexit had done more harm than good. He said he would set out options before a UK-EU summit expected in November, including the single market, the customs union, and full membership. At a joint press conference in Madrid, Emmanuel Macron said "Welcome back" and "Come back," and called the shift excellent news for Britain and for Europeans. He said a return would mean following EU rules. Pedro Sanchez said Spain would open its arms and called Brexit a huge loss for Britain and for Europe. A European Commission spokesperson said the Union is open to engaging on options London puts forward. At the same appearance the two leaders said Europe should tighten trade defenses against China and seek technology-transfer commitments from Chinese auto investors.
US District Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín approved a 21 September settlement with 12 states, led by California attorney general Rob Bonta, that had sued to block the merger. She called the consent decree a reasonable factual and legal resolution. Paramount agreed to spend at least $300 million a year for five years on US film and television production, $1.5 billion in total, and to release at least 30 theatrical films a year for the first two years and 32 a year for the three years after that. David Ellison stays chairman and CEO and keeps strategy, creative work, and technology. Kreiz, Mattel's chief executive since 2018 and the executive behind the Barbie film, joins on 5 October and becomes co-CEO at closing, running day-to-day operations and integration. The companies expect to close on 6 October. A ticking fee of 25 cents a share each quarter, about $7 million a day, starts on 1 October if the cash-out of Warner stockholders at $31 a share is still open. Paramount has been marketing a $44 billion bond to help fund the purchase.
Reuters reviewed the confidential S-1, roughly 300 pages, filed with the SEC in June. The risk section runs close to a third of the document and says advanced systems could pose catastrophic or existential risks, resist shutdown, or manipulate information. Revenue in 2025 rose about twelvefold to nearly $4.6 billion. The net loss was $42 billion, of which about $34 billion was a financing write-down, leaving an operating loss a little above $8 billion, up from $2.98 billion in 2024. Compute and cloud commitments total $518 billion, and about 80 percent of that sum is payable whether or not the capacity is used. Forty-seven percent of 2025 sales, about $2.16 billion, went through Amazon and Google, which are also investors and chip suppliers. A Founder LLC and Class F shares would give the seven co-founders 50.1 percent of the vote if they vote together. Advisers have talked about a listing after the November midterms and a valuation around $2 trillion, above the $965 billion post-money figure from the $65 billion round in May. SpaceX's June listing, at about $1.77 trillion, is the current record.
Wednesday's speech followed September's parliamentary election. United Russia now holds more seats than before, in a vote the Kremlin treated as a mandate. BBC Russia editor Steve Rosenberg said the next public window is Putin's appearance at the Valdai club in Moscow on Thursday. Russian media have been writing that Ukraine is short of air-defence missiles and that winter strikes will add pressure. Kyiv has said ballistic missiles and jet-powered drones are hard to shoot down. Asked whether Russia is running a hybrid campaign in Europe, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov pointed to Russian attacks on British and European weapons supplied to Ukraine. In Germany, a drone carrying an explosive was found near Ukrainian cargo planes at Leipzig airport.
A market print put the 10-year above 5.30 percent intraday, the highest since April 2002, up 55 basis points in September and 138 basis points from the March 2026 low. Mortgage News Daily's 3:59 p.m. ET reading was 5.283 percent on the 10-year, up 3.9 basis points on the day, and 5.629 percent on the 30-year. The 30-year mortgage rate was 7.58 percent. FRED's last published close before that session was 5.26 percent on 29 September. Futures markets no longer priced a Federal Reserve rate increase at the next meeting.
Open Standard, run by Zach Abrams, issued OUSD on Wednesday on Ethereum, Solana, Base, and Tempo. Bridge, the stablecoin firm Stripe bought for $1.1 billion in 2024, is the issuer. Reserves sit at BlackRock, Lead Bank, and BNY, with monthly attestations planned. The five founding partners hold equal initial equity and have committed more than $1 billion toward liquidity over the coming months. Businesses can mint and redeem at one dollar with no fee through Stripe, Mastercard's BVNK, and Visa's stablecoin platform. Coinbase access starts on 1 October. The partner list has grown from about 140 firms in June to more than 200. The stablecoin market is above $300 billion, and Tether's USDT and Circle's USDC still account for most of it.
The Interim Measures for AI Anthropomorphic Interactive Services, issued by the Cyberspace Administration and four other agencies, took effect on 15 July. They bar virtual romantic partners and virtual relatives for anyone under 18, require a guardian's consent for other humanlike services offered to children under 14, and require a reminder every two hours that the user is talking to a machine. ByteDance's Doubao, Alibaba's Qwen, and Tencent's Yuanbao switched off user-made companion agents ahead of that date. Doubao is keeping old chats readable until 15 October. The cyberspace office has said it removed 49,000 accounts and about 2,400 sites and apps under the enforcement. A September draft would extend the companion ban to every user under 18 and add a minors' mode on services that shape how children under 16 think.
Xu, a rotating chairman, said Huawei's own tally puts Ascend ahead of Nvidia in the Chinese market, and that the supply is the point even where the chips trail on paper. He said Huawei lacks capacity for domestic demand and has no plan for a full international rollout. Bernstein has estimated Huawei's share of China's AI accelerators near 50 percent this year, with Nvidia near 8 percent, down from about 40 percent. The Register noted a 256,000-card Atlas 950 SuperCluster already being deployed. Epoch AI has estimated Huawei's 2026 AI-compute output at under 4 percent of Nvidia's worldwide shipments.
The researcher, who uses the name Faav, found that Titan checked token claims and did not check the cryptographic signature. Setting the username claim to admin mapped to local user ID 1 and the Admin role. Thirty of 56 routing values were still live and resolved to 17 databases and 9,863 table names. The row total, 17,333,335,124,315, is a metadata estimate and includes historical and duplicated data. Platform metadata included about 25,000 account and email entries and 17,990 employee email records, plus job titles and reporting lines for staff tied to Titan. He wrote that he used table descriptions and bounded samples and did not take customer data. Microsoft locked the endpoint on 9 September and paid a $5,000 bounty on 17 September.
Each SuperPoD holds 1,024 NPUs rated at 950 watts, plus 1,300 interconnect chipsets, more than 4,000 optical modules, and 190,000 cable-tray cables. A 64-card cabinet is rated at 96 kilowatts, so the gear around the NPUs adds about half again to the power draw. The same account said the Atlas-960 design uses a different optical approach to cut 550 kilowatts per SuperPoD.
Steve Daines of Montana, who sits on Senate Finance and is retiring, circulated a draft the week of 25 September and his office had said a formal introduction would follow. On 16 September the House Ways and Means Committee passed H.R. 10357, the Digital Asset Tax Certainty Act, by 38 to 5. That bill skips gain or loss on network fees of $10 or less, sets a treatment for dollar stablecoins, allows simpler accounting for some widely traded assets, and treats mining and staking rewards as ordinary income while leaving the timing of that income unstated. The Senate voted 50 to 49 on 15 September to block the Clarity Act, the market-structure bill, short of the 60 votes needed to proceed.
A buyback of that size returns cash to shareholders while Jensen Huang is also committing the company to fund a large share of the AI buildout. Nvidia's equity value was reported near $5.5 trillion in late September. Huawei's Eric Xu, the same day, said Ascend has passed Nvidia inside China and that Huawei will not roll the chips out worldwide while domestic orders outrun supply.
The print came on the same day the 10-year Treasury yield traded above 5.30 percent intraday and the 30-year mortgage rate was 7.58 percent. A count of exchange wallets put centralized-exchange holdings at 3,668,100 BTC as of 29 September at 23:56 UTC, down 33,839 BTC in seven days from 3,713,111 BTC on 19 September.
CIX, which builds fighting humanoids under the name REK, published the notice quoting "UNSANCTIONED HUMAN VERSUS HUMANOID ROBOT CAGE FIGHT." California Business and Professions Code section 18625 defines a contest or match as a fight, prizefight, boxing, kickboxing, or martial-arts contest between two or more persons where full contact is used or intended and physical harm may result. The section sits in the State Athletic Commission Act. The company said the commission will have to change the statute if it wants the bout regulated as a match.
Doğa Yücel and colleagues argue that the patterns set during development, the ones that keep a neuron a neuron, are maintained less precisely than they are established, and that they erode over decades. The paper is Nature, "s41586-026-10955-0." Sinclair said the result lines up with his Information Theory of Aging and that restoring the patterns may take a different intervention from preserving them. His lab's second in vivo method is a separate design from the OSK factors already in human trials. He said Chris Petty will present it at the ARDD meeting on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. ET, and that he will speak on Saturday at 6 p.m. ET.
The current GLP-1 drugs, including semaglutide and tirzepatide, lower body weight and also reduce lean mass. The programs in the Journal's piece try to split those effects, so a patient loses fat and holds on to muscle. That changes the trial endpoints from a single number on the scale to a measure of what kind of tissue came off.
The China Passenger Car Association's release covers four weeks of September. Retail sales of new-energy vehicles, the battery-electric and plug-in category, were down from a year earlier even as their share of the market reached about 66 percent. The association's full September tally was still outstanding when the weekly figures landed.
The challenge is at yukon.org/sig.golf, built with Eigen Labs on Yukon Research. The score multiplies signature bytes by verification cycles, and the cost model is aimed at zero-knowledge virtual machines. Jonas Nick, who works on Bitcoin cryptography at Blockstream, wrote that a single score captures one tradeoff and that the proofs may still carry over to verification on ordinary CPUs. Hash-based schemes such as HG-WOTS are already a place where automated search has been shrinking signatures.
The operation is the latest in the department's buyback series, which retires older off-the-run notes and bonds. The cap on this round is $6 billion. It lands in the same week the 10-year yield traded above 5.30 percent intraday and the 30-year yield's afternoon print was 5.629 percent.
The Bluetooth mode finds and messages people nearby with no Wi-Fi, no cell signal, and no central server. Transcripts, summaries, and emoji reactions during a call run on the handset through the open-source qvac SDK. The project said an open-source release of the new pieces is set for early 2027.
Pike was sentenced to death for the 1995 murder of Colleen Slemmer in Knoxville. She has been the only woman on Tennessee's death row. The order lets Tennessee carry out the sentence.
Kaledora, who started the real-world-asset perpetuals venue out of college four and a half years ago, said OLP holders bore the loss and that the firm stayed quiet for two months. Before the attack Ostium had the second-highest open interest among venues in that category. She said the team has been rebuilding the trading stack, the legal footing, and a narrower product since July, and that Stage 2 is how affected holders share in later growth. Core leadership and senior engineering stayed. She said technical details would come the next day.
