Spokesperson Tommy Pigott said the Houthis, with Iranian support, were striking civilian airports and other infrastructure, with civilian deaths and travel disruptions. Staff had returned to the mission after they were withdrawn when the U.S. and Israeli war with Iran began in late February. Four U.S. officials told Reuters that other Gulf missions would send family members out. Pigott did not confirm any order outside Saudi Arabia. Politico reported that the departure order coincided with a security alert at the embassy in Riyadh. An attack this month on Riyadh's main airport killed at least 13 people, including an American, and wounded hundreds. A separate strike at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam killed one person and injured eight.

Both flaws are unauthenticated remote code execution in PHP core, each scored CVSS v4 9.2. The advisory is GHSA-w8hw-w9fx-j79w. Ryan at Calif.io, Wiz, and OpenAI are credited with the report, and Arnaud Le Blanc, Ilija Tovilo, Jakub Zelenka, and Nora Dossche with the repair. Earlier releases in the 8.2 through 8.5 lines are affected. PHP 8.1 and older are out of support and stay vulnerable. The project published source-only backports for 7.4, 8.0, and 8.1. The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security bulletin AL26-026 classes both as use-after-free. Sophos said several vendors had reported attacks on live servers, including PHP-FPM, php-cgi, FrankenPHP, LiteSpeed, and mod_php. A PHP News recap said the security team had not found a working public exploit when the packages shipped. Chainguard published fixed container images at 07:41 UTC on 21 October, ahead of the coordinated release.
The patient flew from Uganda to Abuja on 3 October and was tested on 19 October. Olajumoke Babatunde, director of the public health laboratory service at the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, said three molecular tests identified Bundibugyo, and the World Health Organization confirmed the result. An official told AFP she is a diplomat in multi-organ failure. Health minister Muhammad Ali Pate said she is isolated and under treatment. Ayoade Alakija said twelve days passed between the illness and the test. Officials have listed 44 contacts, mostly health workers, including her husband, a Swiss national in Abuja. They do not believe she was symptomatic on the flight. Bundibugyo has no vaccine and no specific treatment. The WHO counts Nigeria as the fifth country in this outbreak. Kenya has reported nine cases since 6 October. The Congo count since mid-May is more than 9,000 cases and more than 4,000 deaths. In 2014 Nigeria stopped an outbreak in three months, with 20 infections and 8 deaths.
The 21 October action, under Executive Order 13902, names the Panama- and Greece-based firm and the brothers Sofianos, Konstantinos, and Ioanis Karnakis Kosmas, plus Pedro Ortega Jones and Roberto Ortega Jones. Treasury also sanctioned shipping agents in Singapore and the United Arab Emirates. The firm registered companies whose vessels carried hundreds of millions of dollars of Iranian steel, petroleum, and petrochemicals. FinCEN issued its first administrative subpoena under 31 U.S.C. § 5318(k), aimed at a Greek bank's possible ties to Iran and to Iranian proxies, and it sent banks further requests about relationships with Iranian institutions already on the sanctions list.
On the same call Tesla said it needs about 10,000 Optimus robots and an Optimus Academy to collect training data. Ashok Elluswamy, who leads the Optimus AI work, said the training uses demonstrations from people while the fleet is still small. Konstantinos Laskaris said the hand, and the fingers in particular, remains the open hardware problem, while the rest of the electromechanical design is in better shape. Most of the equipment for a line rated at one million units a year has arrived in Fremont. The early stretch of that production curve is expected to be slow.
The rule is OCC news release 2026-92, dated 21 October 2026, and it takes effect the same day the statute does. It covers national banks, federal savings associations, federal branches, foreign issuers, nonbank federal qualified issuers, and some state issuers, plus certain custody by firms the OCC already supervises. Comptroller Jonathan V. Gould signed it. The proposal appeared on 25 February 2026 and in the Federal Register on 2 March. A later rule, written with the Treasury, will cover Bank Secrecy Act, anti-money-laundering, and sanctions duties. OCC bulletins 2026-50 and 2026-52 set weekly and quarterly reporting forms, with the first weekly report date on 25 January 2027 and the first quarterly date on 31 March 2027.
A short liquidation is a purchase of the bitcoin the trader borrowed in order to sell it. Those forced purchases are the $188 million. The 7 October print is the last time this price series records $84,600.

NewLimit, cofounded by Blake Byers and Brian Armstrong, works on partial epigenetic reprogramming, which changes chemical marks on the packaging of DNA so old cells regain functions. The summer figures are the company's own tally. The same update counts more than 5,000 payloads tested, a 314-fold increase in manufacturing scale, a 13-fold gain in quality, the first large-animal studies, and meetings with regulators. Five further payloads restored function in old hepatocytes, and two more rescued several functions in those liver cells.
Retatrutide is Eli Lilly's investigational drug LY3437943, an agonist of GIP, GLP-1, and glucagon. It is not approved. In TRIUMPH-1, 2,339 people on the 12 milligram dose lost 28.3 percent of body weight at 80 weeks on average. In TRIUMPH-2, 1,152 people with diabetes lost between 12.7 and 20.8 percent, with A1C lower by as much as 1.6 points. Lilly plans a submission in early 2027. Anhui Renchen Technology, indicted in 2023 for supplying fentanyl precursors to the Sinaloa Cartel, now sells semaglutide and melanotan II. Of about 200 Chinese firms TRM Labs tracked in the precursor trade, at least 50 now sell peptides. Customs and Border Protection intercepted about 400 operations in the past year and seized more than 130,000 vials. The two deaths in FDA records were in July and September.
The paper ran in the International Journal of Biological Macromolecules on 17 October 2026. The rats received letrozole at 1 milligram per kilogram per day plus a high-fat diet for 30 days, then NMN at 500 milligrams per kilogram per day for 30 days. NMN reversed insulin resistance, high androgens, a disordered estrous cycle, and the polycystic shape of the ovaries, and it raised ovarian NAD+ and glycolysis. SIRT2 removes an acetyl group from the enzyme LDHA at lysine 119, which increases that glycolytic activity, increases granulosa-cell growth, and reduces cell death in those cells.
XMPP.is is the public chat service run by the nonprofit Unredacted. The outage is the website. The update addresses CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619, fixed in PHP 8.2.35, 8.3.36, 8.4.27, and 8.5.12. Sophos said several vendors had reported exploitation on live servers. A PHP News recap said the security team had not found a working public exploit when those packages shipped.
BTCPay Server is the self-hosted Bitcoin payment server. The WooCommerce Docker fragment bundles WordPress, which runs on PHP, so the fragment carries the same 21 October PHP fixes. Operators apply it with ./btcpay-update.sh or the update control in the interface. Official WordPress, Drupal, and Laravel images on Docker Hub were still behind when the BTCPay fragment shipped.
Cashu is Chaumian ecash: a mint issues bearer notes and a shop redeems them. CashuPayServer is the self-hosted shop and the WordPress payment package. The plugin had revealed the seed phrase and a database download when any password was typed during an existing administrator session. It now asks for the real WordPress password. MiniMax M3.1 found that bug. The same release reserves money in stranded-funds exports, blocks a second pass through the setup wizard that could reset the admin password, requires two independent sources for fiat prices, stops an interrupted wallet backup from leaving a full database copy, bounds public token submissions, and stops a trusted-proxy setting from naming the whole internet. The audits were DeepSeek 4.1 Flash 1017, Opus 5.5, and MiniMax M3.1, using Cloudflare's security-audit skill. The release notes say to apply the PHP update before upgrading a server that is still on the old PHP.
The ministry publishes the national tally of that capacity. Its stated 2030 goal is 9,800 exaflops. The post estimates that about 1,000 exaflops of FP16 capacity have been added so far in 2026, and it treats the 2030 goal as low once domestic supply increases in 2027 and 2028.
In those sales tables a new-energy vehicle is a battery-electric or plug-in hybrid truck, and a tractor is the cab that pulls a trailer. The share has climbed steeply since 2024. The post attributes the switch to high diesel prices.
Agile Robots is based in Munich and also builds machines in China. The ONE on stage uses NVIDIA's Jetson Thor computer. WUJI says it has delivered thousands of the five-finger hands to hundreds of customers. NVIDIA's GTC robotics slate the same week covered Isaac tools for agents, the GR00T models, new datasets, a runtime, and updates to its robot-learning framework.
United's chief executive said customers are switching to the airline because of the connection. United's own release on 15 October put Starlink on more than 635 aircraft and on nearly half of daily departures, with more than 250,000 customers a day on more than 2,500 flights. The airline said it is fitting about 20 aircraft a week. A tracker tool is live, and a status-match campaign runs through 22 October. A later breakdown put the share near 37 percent on mainline long-haul flights and near 68 percent on United Express.
The MIT news office published the announcement on 6 October. Faculty co-directors are Eric Klopfer, of the Scheller Teacher Education Program, and Cynthia Breazeal, of the Media Lab. Claudia Urrea, who also heads MIT pK-12, leads the initiative. The calculus track continues a project launched a year ago. About half of U.S. school districts offer calculus. The AI track runs through MIT RAISE. Day of AI has reached about one million students. PATH, announced on 1 October, trains students at two-year and four-year colleges. The making track works with the Fab Foundation, which grew out of the Center for Bits and Atoms and counts about 300 fab labs in the United States. The announcement notes that 29 percent of U.S. students in grades 9 through 12 build circuits, and that 6 percent enroll in computer science while about 60 percent of high schools offer the subject.
Credo chief executive Bill Brennan described the pivot at the summit. The company had bought the microLED firm Hyperloom for $92 million and then built this first cable on micro-VCSELs. In the 20 October Semi Doped episode, micro-VCSELs on gallium arsenide reach 50 gigabits a second or more across 50 meters, and the microLED approach in that comparison was about 3 to 5 gigabits a second across 5 meters. Copper at 224 gigabaud reaches about 7 meters. MicroLEDs, made from gallium nitride, remain a candidate for very short links inside a hot equipment tray. The episode's hosts are Austin Lyons and Vik Sekar.
Kaia Rhodes works at Anatar, which builds automated soft-goods lines for aerospace and defense. The same day she said imports account for 97 percent of U.S. apparel, compared with 5 percent in the 1960s. The American Apparel and Footwear Association's tally of the clothes Americans buy is in that same range, about 97 percent imported.
